Did you find the movies better or the book.
I found the book really exhaustive where as the movies were really superb.

It invariably depends on whether one has enough time to read the entire book, or can manage to scrape in only a few hours to watch the movie. For instance, I could read "the Godfather" book by Mario Puzo, but could not go beyond a few chapters in Tolkien's voluminous "Lord of the Rings". Both the movies were however masterpieces, and so do i find it true in all movies.
It is the natural tendency of the human brain to be able to comprehend better with visual and audio elements rather than just imagination. No wonder, we might get a more delightful experience by watching a movie than by reading a book of the same.
However, if ones added motivation to read a book is to spend time enjoying the prose and the story line in great detail, or just pass a lazy afternoon, THEN nothing beats the book!

I too had the same experience. I read god father without any problem but when it came to lord of the rings i was not able to succed in completing it even though i tried a lot.
though books improve our imaginations some books really good to just watch them as movies.

I do agree with you. But you forgot one thing: Books have a lot more details and leaves everything to your imagination. And many a times movies spoil your imaginary world. Thats why I would prefer to spend extra time to read the books than go for movies..

books and movies are very knowledge re sources.if you read books it give lot of information about recent treads and subject.in movies we get what is going on and which technologies they are using and get fun them also.i prefer both but first goes to books and movies.

I find it is the other way around. I can't even think of one movie I liked more than the book. Maybe 1984. I can definitely think of all the books I liked more than movies. ie Da Vinci Code, Diary of a Geisha,

usually i read the novels first before watching the movies. i can imagine freely about the situation in the novels and it so exciting.

Definitely the book. Most of the time whenever somebody decide to make a movie out of a book, I would be disappointed with the movie and as far as I could remember there were only a few exceptions. Movies are good and quick entertainment whereas the book leaves a more lasting impression as it requires your imagination.
