I agree. Plus we need to learn how the earth functions and changes so we can take care of it.

Well, schools try to give you a little knowledge about everything so you can decide what you're interested in. You might want to be a scientist who studies earthquakes, volcanos, or mining and earth science is what you would major in when you go to college.
