Absolutely he was guilty.He shouldn't have done that.I know that Materazzi had said something wrong but at that moment he was on the field & that was against the law.

He was not guilty. He has done a right thing, the person who instilled anger in him by saying bad things about his family was guilty. Actually that was Matterazi's tactics for the game but was not right.

zidane was probably the biggest fool to walk on a football pitch. A great player who threw away his career for a moment of temper and childishness

Well... it depends what you mean by genuine. He was angry at abusive remarks made about his mother and sister and retaliated at the wrong time, just as his opponent hoped he might.
He would have been better to have waited until after the game to have a word with the guy. I think the other player was out of order, but then retaliation is not seen as an excuse to behave in the way Zidane did on the pitch, so the ref did the only thing he could, at the time.
Having said all that, the opponent did a hateful thing, and maybe the referee should have been aware that it was a two-sided action and sent them both off!
