I used to think it was lazy too. I asked my daughter who was 9 at the time and she told me that she just couldnt wake up. So what i used to do was ask her to go to the loo before bed and then when i went to bed later on, I used to get her up, sometimes still asleep and lead her to the toilet. At first she would just sit there still asleep and do nothing. Eventually she got used to the getting up and going to the loo herself.Be patient, consistant and posotive.

You should take her to a urologist it could be medical my daughter had problems not realy with wetting the bed but bad kidney infection and every now and then if she wets the bed or anything i usually take her on to the doc. most of the time is just a bladder infection.she had to have surgery though because her uriteral valve wasnt long enough so when she went to the bathroom her bladder didnt empty all the way which caused the bad kidney infections, they put a uriteral implant in. hope this helps

Bed wetting is totally a phychological issue, its nothing to with the medical reason. By age of 6 the child gets control over their nervous system, excreatory system and other systems which involves the control from the brain. The child must be under the some physchological pressure or there must be something from which the child is afraid of. Talk to your child very politely and ask her what she experiences before the urination, tell her with confidence that you are with her always. She is not alone, you will be sleeping with her, so there is nothing to worry. winning your child's confidence might help her overcome this problem.

Check out whether she does it from fear psychosis. May be she is doing it unintentionally just from the fear, "Oh if it happens again today, then what Mom will say?". Just try the comfort route. Don't say her anything on that issue. Just make general comments and see whether she gets her confidence back. My daughter used to do this till 5+ years. Finally it has been recitified without visiting the Doctor. Sometimes children at that age do it purely from fear psychosis. No I am not any Doctor, I guess I have seen a Doctor posing in this forum, hopefully you may get better reply. I thought I can help you. Thanks.

I know lots of kids who have wet the bed until they were pre teen and some teenagers. They really can't help it. Sometimes they sleep so sound, they just don't wake up. Its not laziness, no one wants to wake up wet all the time. They have pull ups for older kids now. Don't yell and punish it really does no good. Use a plastic sheet or something to protect the mattress. Good Luck.

It very well could be medical. How long has she been potty trained? Why do you think it is not medical? Have you tried the treatments that the Dr suggested?

It's not lazy and there are a lot of kids that still do this some into there teens. Don't berate your daughter for being lazy. But her some special underwear for older kids who still wet and follow your doctors advice...
