Have you tried the Roomba automatic vacuum or know someone who has? How well does it work? I also think they have some other brands out there that may not be as expensive. How are they? I also saw on television that there is something similar out now that mops the floor for you. If these work and are reasonably priced that's great.

I have a friend who has the rumba and she LOVES it. She has two cats and it cleans the fur up real good. Her house is not real big but she really enjoys turning it on and letting it go. The set-up takes the most time but once you have the boundaries set she says it is a synch to use. I have a robomower with the same type system and I LOVE it so I can imagine how great the vacuum is.

Wow, I have never heard of a robomower. That would be great.

I haven't tried one. I would be concerned that it wouldn't hold enough in that little disc. I have a dog as well. I would love to find out how they work.

Sounds like they work pretty good. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

These are small disc shaped (I think) vacuums that go around the room vacuuming on their own. You just turn them on and let them go.

I have not tried the Roomba automated vacuum as of yet. That was what I told my husband that I wanted for christmas. I am sure that it is under the tree. I am excited to get it because I am really ready just to let it do all the vacuuming and not have to worry about it. I have not heard of any other ones that are cheaper.

I haven't tried the roomba because there is no way it would handle the amount of animal fur we have in our house! I have a Dyson (animal model) and I love it. It was a bit more expensive, but before we got it we were having to replace our vacuum at least once a year because the fur would burn out the motor! This thing picks up anything and everything and is so easy to use. Here's their website for more info: http://www.dyson.com/range/feature_frame.asp?model=DC07-ANIMAL

We have dogs in the house too. That's one reason I want it so much. I think I would vacuum more often.
