What is with kids back talking mothers?

I was in store yesterday and this kid was yelling at his mom because he wanted this game this i would say 14 yr old yelling at his mother ..over a game..what guves him the right to do that? no one or nothing.. i wnted to walk up and smack the boy silly... I was so very mad.. and the mother was very embarressed...as you could tell .... I think these kids need to go to boot camp... a friend of mines son cusses her and he gets grounded from all events.. are mothers to leanant? do we need to be more strick what should we do?

Its 100% the mother and fathers job for raising a crappy spoiled little brat. Yes it sucks that we have to put up with it while venturing to the nearest neighborhood store, but its far worse for the kids parents who have to live with him.
Yes, be more strict. Physically discipline your kids, by this i mean DISCIPLINE not a beating. Simply grounding a kid obviously wont fix the problem, they will always find a way to sneak around without you knowing.

our kids respect us at home and in the store. giving in don't do anything but make them lose more respect to their parents.

I think kids today have no respect for their parents or grnadparents. My cousins cuss and yell at their mom and our grandma. Though grandma yells at them and tries to punish them, my aunt doesn't back her up. It's like kids are running the show anymore.
I think we need to be more strick. My mom had no problems with spanking me and my brother...we never talked back after we got spanked. I think parents today are too afraid to punish their kids with all the child abuse things going on.
