Thoughts on co-sleeping

Are you for it, or against it? I myself am for co-sleeping. I love having my kids in bed with me. I believe it makes them feel more safe and secure at night. I know others may completely disagree with me, which is fine also :O) What is your opinion?

I do not like co sleeping I am afraied that I will roll over on them. Not to metion that my kids toss and turn so much that it is hard to sleep by them. I also like the alone time with my husband. I like to have his full attion for a little while before we fall a sleep.

If you do not trust yourself to not roll over on them, then that is a good reason not to co-sleep. You would be surprised at yourself though the first time you sleep next to your baby, the feeling of awareness and just "knowing" that your baby is there.

I probably would cosleep with my daughter but my husband is completely against it. I've heard it isn't really that safe for babies though

We have co-slept since day 1. There are ways to safely co-sleep, and lots of great sites out there for refference.

I dont agree with it because at some time the child will have to learn to sleep in his own bed and the longer they sleep in your bed the harder it is going to be. I know from first hand experience..I was the child! lol.. my mom was a single mom and I slept in her bed for a long time as a child. She had the HARDEST time getting me to finally sleep in my own bed. I remember getting up every night just sitting in the hallway crying because I wanted to sleep in her bed. It was rough on me and her both!...It turns into a bad habit that is very hard to break! My oldest son gets in bed with me during early morning hours every once in awhile but I make sure not to let it be an every night thing!

My 3yr old slept with us till he was 2 1/2. His transition from our bed to him own was suprisingly very easy. But, evey child is different.

personally, i dont have a problem with co-sleeping. my oldest daughter slept with us for years. my husband would get bent and say that she couldnt sleep with us forever, but i would just tell him that the day would come where she didnt want to sleep with mom and dad anymore. (she is now 6 and will occassionally wake up in the middle of the night to climb in bed with us) for the most part though, she sleeps on her own now. i think it gives your child a better sense of security, not to mention the comfort it gives to you as a mother to know that they are safe and sound. and i feel that, especially as babies, children need to know that you are close by when they need you.

My daughter slept with us a little when she was very young, just because it was the best way to keep her asleep (oddly, the same now goes for the dog). But, we had a king sized bed then, now in the new house we have a queen, so I think with the next kid, we probably won't put him or her in bed with us.
