We have a Boston Terrier named Daffy who is just like a child! She is very gentle with our young children and very tolerant of their antics. She is very sweet, affectionate and always wants a lap to sit on. She follows me around the house and is always close. The thing about your post that gives me pause is that I have read that Boston's tend to like being the 'only' dog. Daffy does seem to get her feelings hurt and can have an attitude when it comes to attention. She is never mean but I have seen her do little destructive things to snub the person who snubbed her. I can see where she would be jealous of another dog.
Good luck with your decision!

I often babysit other dogs or train puppies of different breeds and I have never had my Bostons become jealous. I wonder if Daffy was fully socialized with other dogs? It is really important that dogs have play-dates or else they will think they are humans and find other dogs to be disgusting or annoying.

I have an adorable Boston Terrier. She is sweet and precocious and so loveable. But if you don't think you like either breed, don't get either of them! After all, you are going to be resposible for this dog for several years. Your boyfriend should understand.
My boyfriend and I spent months searching for a breed we both loved. i am so glad we did!

I have a 5 year old female boxer. She is super sweet, intelligent, very mild mannered and gets along with everything & everyone, cats, ducks and kids of all ages included. She's active but not hyper, content if she's left alone while we go out, gets along great with other dogs in our neighborhood and is loyal and protective.
I don't have any real experience with boston terriers so I really can't compare & contrast them.
