Do you feed your cats expensive food? Are there really any benefits for paying more?

Yes I do. And,yes there is a big benefit for paying more. They live longer and are stronger and healtier. Now, you can also get the same high quality food in Petsmart, under their own brand. You don't want meow mix and that garbage. You want a food that has NO bi products as the first ingrediences. No dyes. Lots of veggies and fiber. Maxicat, Royal something from Canada, Authority...petsmart store brand and excellent quality, not too expensive. Those are a few. There are about 3 more brands. Not science diet. They support the vets, so they encourage you buying it. You will see a difference in their fur and skin. If you love your pet, please check out what I told you. Don't go by name brands, as they have those bi products and filler in them.

Depends on the cat food. Any food where the main ingrgredient is a meat by product, it is not a good food. Many of the expensive foods are not worht what you pay for. When buying cat food make sure the main ingredient is meat - not a grain or a meat by product! It is hard to find a good food. I spent an hour reading cat food bags when we switched our cats from kitten to adult cat food.

I read a bunch of different cat food bags. I read all of the ingredients because I had researched what should and should not be in cat food before going to the store. I wanted to get the best cat food possible without having to hand make it every night myself.

Yes, there are benefits. They are better for you cat, thus your cat will be healthier and live longer. Also these foods are generally more filling and your cat doesn't need to eat as much of it to be full, so they really aren't as expensive as you think they are. If they are indoor cats, one of the biggest benefits is that they make the stool, more firm and they have a much less foul smell to them. I recommend Iams, Royal Canin, and Science Diet personally. I've been a breeder and shower of prize cats and those are the brands that I trust the most. I only feed dry, also, by the way.

I was buying the expensive kind but we are now on a budget and I had to go cheap. I tried but my cats won't eat people food. Well, one will but the other won't. I went out and bought a bag of cheap food for now. They seem happy with it because it is something different. I just hope it is good for them.

I don't buy the cheap cat food, but don't buy the science diet or Iams either. I buy Purina Cat Chow. Usually the indoor formula. I've noticed how much better my cats look and their fur is more shiney since I've been feeding the Purina. They look better and act like they feel better too. For canned food I buy the Friskies. I don't buy the cheap canned food anymore either. I think it's worth it to pay a little more for the better quality food.

our image of ourselves - portrayed by a cat it is all in how we look at ourselves
We buy the bigger cans at 41 cents for Wal mart, Special Kitty and then they have all the crunchies they wish. Then they hunt and share our meals. I used to cook their evening meal for them since my Ozzie cat really wants cat food so the compromise was the evening meal. The best meal they liked was ground turkey with herbs and eggs added. They ate that up. Our boys are shiny healthy and lively so we have hit their balance. Cats like people can be different so pay attention and they can lead they way. Cat have all the tools available to a bigger predator...they have the subtlety to manipulate creatures bigger than themselves! (us) lol

cat - cat happy
I have found my cat is a bit picky when it caomes to food, I buy large cans of human consumption tuna when it is on special or a home brand, as long as it is in brine, and that she prefers rather than cat tuna....

I don't buy food for my cat. I feed it with leftovers, and it also hunts a greaty variety of animals (mice, rats, moles, birds, large insects...)

I don't... my animals are having home made food and it cost much less than can food. I mix it with dry food.

Cat meals are expensive. I have two cats and they are eating hard everytime. One cat meal is about Euro 50 cents. thats a lot of money. My cats are eating twice a day. This is excluding the pellets that i shoud include in their diet. I need to buy sand also for the waste. Some cats choose food! Ow I dont really like it. Some brands are soo expensive. I know one brand here in europe that costs Euro 2.5 per can. Thats a lot of money

I try to compare the ingrediants labels of various cat foods. I find that the cheaper ones are usually the same as the more expensive variety.

I give my cat the brand names-purina,9 lives. I know not to give any animal generic foods because it affects their kidneys and digestive track.
