I have one credit card and it has a very low limit. I pay on it every two weeks. The only reason I have a credit card is to build my credit while I'm in college so it will be easier for me to obtain a home loan when I graduate. My parents were plagued by debt and I am determined to stay out of that situation.

Mayshoe -- I'm not sure I understand your comment. There should be an alternative for a credit card? As in another way to gain credit... or something else? Could you clarify? I've worked in several retail positions credit cards drive business. Workers are driven and pushed to make credit card based sales. The are told to ask if the customer would like to use their credit card or get another credit card from the specific store. Credit cards make businesses a lot of money through interest. It is also very hard to get credit if you don't have a credit card. I've heard of people gaining credit through paying utility bills but in order to that you need a house and for a house you need a mortage and for that you need a credit check. It is possible to maintain a credit card and not spiral into unreasonable debt.

I am proud to say none. I paid them off. I look at it like if I don't have the money than I really don't need it. But I need one in case of an emergency

I only owe one small one now days and no it is not maxed. I use it to pay bills then make sure it is paid back within the interest free period. But years ago this wasnt the case I had three cards maxed out and it took a long time to pay them all off. I have only recently got another credit card after ten years. I have learnt by my mistake beleive me. If used properly a credit card is good. But the temptation can be great

We have one (Amex) and another MC for emergencies. Well, we have a few stores credit cards but we don't use them too often. I think finance and savings should be mandatory in high school, b/c if it weren't for my husband I'd be out of control.

I have two cards and they are not maxed out. I know my limits, and when I get the bill I pay off the balance. I had a huge problem back in my college days and I learned my lesson.

I have 4 remaining all very small limits. I have recently paid off and closed out 4 credit cards. I will only be keeping one to use as a gas card in the end because we have to have gas for my husband to go back and forth to work even when times are lean. We expect to have them all paid off by Feb and just use the one and pay off every month for gas.

Credit cards have made life miserable for those who have limited resources of income. I have 5 to 6 cards. With great difficulty I cleared the outstandings.
I became poor becuase of extensive credit card usage and paying high rate of interest though it helped me at times out of crisis.
Another pain in the society is personal loan which has made the life miserable. If you get into it, one's income go in clearing the same

I pressume you mean that you hope you won't have to have another student loan? Are you going to be married, and hoping your husband will make a great living? or you are married and don't know how much money your husband earns? Either way, Are you not responsible for you own student loan? Why would your loan be someone elses responsibility?

Credit Cards are a dime a dozen if used right. Find out more from http://www.affiliatetier.com . If you use a credit card right, you can actually make money from your card. This is called stoozing. If you have 1-10 cards you could be making $600-$6000 extra every 3-4 months.

I have 4 credit cards. None of them are maxed out. I've actually been working very hard to pay them all off and I hope to have them all paid off by next summer!

the last thing to do is to take credit card. there should be an alternative for that now.
