I waited 11 yrs before I got a break from the kids. Now they are both in school and I have some time to myself when they are gone. I really like it so far. My house stays clean longer during the day and I have time to do my shopping without someone wanting everything in the store!! When I had one kid home all day long I would wait for my hubby to come home and once a week I would go out with a friend just to get away. Now I don't do that. If I go out it is during the day before i pick the kids up from school.

you know what drives me crazzzzy???Is when you say you can't wait for them to grow up or at least get out.And then someone will pop up and say, well you say that now and one day it will happen and you'll miss these days.

It's hard to find time to recharge when you are constantly "on demand" from 7 am - 9 pm at night. As a former hard working professional, now stay at home mom with a four month old and six year old, I am struggling to maintain my sanity. While I find it easy to get in a funk and miss my former life, I try to stay positive, exercise and enjoy every second with my sweet baby girl. The other issue at hand is maintaining this existence on a single income.

Exactly,my husband is self employed and he is a flooring installer and has been for many years. So on top of everything his work is seasonal.

i've been a stay at home mom for 3 and a half years now. i'm a single parent as well. i don't have much time alone and i don't get much time to releive stress cause i'm always on the go. i find after my kid goes to bed i bring the monitor on the porch outside and sit with my neighbours and just chat. i find it helps to finally get to talk to another adult.
