I was watching Oprah today and they were talking about Global Warming and if we don't start taking care of this world we live in, 40 years from now there won't be a world to live in. What do you think of this and do you do things to help so this won't happen?

I also saw that episode and It is about time that they did a show about it. Im 16 and i've been telling people about this for a long time. I've been mentioning things lik Global warming, poerty, corruption in America, and other worldly things. Nobody wanted to listen, but now I think that is going to change since the movie "an unconvienent truth" came out and Al Gore did that show on Oprah today. Hopefully it does and we can live on this earth in peace so we can have kids and watch them have kids and so on.

It's cyclical, what we are doing isn't that big of a factor as environmental cycles, I say the Al "Snore" Gore movie, it was a joke of a political propoganda movie for the Democratic party.

The movie actually had a lot of great points and plenty of evidence in it, I thought so at least. You're right, there is a natural cycle that the Earth goes through to create such phenomena as global warming, but a lot of scientists agree that it is getting worse due to humans.

The problem is there is no way to say that the warming of the earth is caused by global warming. You can guess and say that ya, it's a possibility. But what about the events that happened a few hundred years ago, before there were cars and hairspray? There was a period of time where the weather actually became warmer, water levels rose, the polar ice caps were melting. What's the explanation for that?
I think the earth has cycles. There have been ice ages and periods of extreme warmth. My biggest issue with the global warming issue though is that the temperature here is reaching below 0 (farenheit). Where's global warming when it's this cold?

Well you have a very good point here, I have never thought about it this way before, you make total sense.

No offence to you, but you had to wait and hear it from Oprah to feel like you need to say something? This has been a major concern to the public for years now, before Clinton was in office even. It continues to be a problem (as many are aware) but nobody is doing anything about it. I think nobody is doing anything partially because it's too hard to switch to an electric car or bike when we've been relying on gas-powered cars for so long. It's a horrible thing and will probably not go away.
The good news, on the other hand, is that within 40 years people will be living on the Moon. Maybe the smart ones can save up enough to move there someday.

No offense taken!!!! But no I didn't have to wait and hear it from Oprah, its been a concern of mine for a long time just didn't know if I should post a discussion on here about it but decided why not. You really think that in 40 years people will be living on the moon? I agree it is hard for people to switch to an electric car or bike and I know one of the major problems that is causing this is burning fuel and oil. To many ppl depend on oil for heat and things like that.
