Catholic Faith - Merged Threads, Let's discuss its foundation

I'd like to open this thread for catholics and non-catholics who wish to engage in discussions over the major teachings particularly on the supposed biblical foundation of these teachings.
having said that, i wish everyone will spew their sentimentalism and unfounded fanaticism elsewhere...in other words, let's keep this as academic and as logical as possible.

I don't know to much. But I was taught that St. Peter was the first Pope... But I also know that Catholicism and Christianity was not always called that. They used to call it The Way .. The Way of Christ, or The Way of the cross. I wish I could site the sources, but this is what I heard from Catholics, verbally telling me. - DNatureofDTrain
