I have worked in daycare dor over 5 years. I have worked in 3 differnt centers. Some where better then others. Some teachers do better and some centers do better it all depends.
If a teacher is open with you and comunicates with you any possible problems then they are working with you and do care about your child.
If your child comes home with art work and singing new songs and speaking new words. Then the center is doing a good job.
Pay attention to the staffs turnover rate at your daycare. Your child is fgetting a new teacher every week then the management is not doing their job and they are not putting your child first.
Do not get confused by material things. A stay at home mother with older toys that charges less could be taking much better care of your child. A day care with brand new everything may just be trying to cover things up.
Also know the ratios in your state. In Maryland it is one adult to 3 babbies/toddlers. 1-6 two year olds, 1-10 three year olds, 1-25 4and up
If your childs center is over complain not to the director because they know and are covering it up. Complain to the department of health or the reginal directore. Also try and find a place who does not go by these and they have smaller classes. More indvual attention is better.
Always rember being a daycare provider is a hard job so follow through with you child in any issue they discuss with you so that the entire class does not suffer.
Hope this helped sorry about spelling the baby is starting to wake up so I have to rush!

Maybe they will. But, it's not a good option. You should groom your child the way you like and not the way your babysitters or daycare takers like.

Neither of my kids were ever in daycare or at a babysiitr all day. I have nieces that were and some of their daycares were good...and some just sat them down in front of a TV all afternoon...I think there are very good caregivers out there, whether private or a center...just harder to find or more costly..most parents have to to what they can afford..good or bad. Sometimes there just isn't a choice.

There are some day care centres which are good and others which are really bad, so it pays to investigate before deciding which one to send your child to. Also listen to your child/ren if they are in such a centre and see what they have to say, just in case there is a discipline or other problem. Ask the child what they do during the day, what they had to eat and all those important factors.
I do believe that children need interaction with others of their age, and they can get this from daycare centres, if it is properly run and is for the benefit and education of the child and not just for profit for the owners. Also are the staff qualified to look after your child or or they just there for the numbers?
Our son didn't go to a daycare centre when he was young but instead initially was cared for in the home of a lady who had 6 children herself, although at the time they were all in school, so he had their undivided attention. After that he was home with his father but when he reached a certain age he did go to kindergarden, where he had the company of children his own age.

Some but not all. Definitely do your research. I have been known to pay alot more for quality daycare than going to some of the slum daycares out there. It's always good to see if they're licensed since they have certain standards that need to be met when they are licensed.

No at my school theres a daycare and my first class is right above the daycare center. We were sitting in class and we heard one of the workers start screaming at some of the kids, and a kids started screaming. It wasn't a why are you yelling at me cry it was more of your hurting me let me go cry. It was awful. I felt bad for the moms in the class whos children were in th day care they looked horrified

Yes, I do think that baby sitters and daycare facilities take good care of children most of the time. They can also help educate them... and teach them beyond what normal parents cound help them grow through interaction and develop better in all ways. But even then it is improtant for the parents to spend some time with them each night too - DNatureofDTrain

According to me no one can take better care of the children than parents.

I have owned my own daycare for 8 years and I make it my number one priority to treat children the way I would want my own child treated. Although there are many daycare's who don't care about the children and are just in it for the money, I love kids and the money is not as important as the children.

I prefer the daycare facilities. At least there are other kids & people around. Some people have had terrible experiences with babysitters.

It all depends... You should first visit the daycare or home care and ask if you can stay for a while. I worked in a daycare and watch children in my home. If the center has you make an appointment to visit, that may be a bad sign, you should be able to just show up with no questions asked. but I believe If you do some background work then you should be fine, and your shildren will be fine. some are very good centers and some may have serious problems, if not sure after you do some work, you can always ask the state.
