I just spent the past 4 years living in Japan, Okinawa to be specific, and I loved the place and especially the people. We are a military family but I learned some of the language and worked off-base on the Japanese economy as a computer engineer for KDDI-Okinawa. I have a blog of my experiences at www.americaninjapan.blogspot.com
The biggest difference between the US and Japan is how nice and accommodating the people are over there. I experienced extreme culture shock when I returned to the US because of how rude/unkind the women were, even at the airport compared to jp. I've been home for 6 months now and I'm still not feelin' the states. Now I'm "homesick" for Japan. I have a best friend over there as well and I miss her a lot.

I would love to go. I really like the culture - ancient and modern. We are actually having a Japanese dinner party this Saturday. Everyone has to dress Japanese. We are serving Japanese food... listening to Japanese music etc. This is the second time we have had a party like this. I like Kabuki, Cherry Blossoms, Samuris, and more from the traditional culture. I'd love to see the Harijuku kids in their costumes.

I'm not from Japan of course but my husband is Japanese American. He was born in California and has only been there on a layover when he was in the army. He has some family there though and one day maybe we can go visit. I would love to go.
My mother in law grew up in Japan. My father in law was born here but his parents were born in Japan and he married my mother in law in Japan. I got to see her pictures of their wedding. It was a traditional Japanese ceremony. She passed away in 2005 but I am hoping my sister in law will send some copies of the pictures.

No, I am from the United States.
No, I have never been to Japan.
I know it has awesome dances, Kimonos, food temples, and cultural traditions...
I would someday love to visit.
Sure, would if I was given the opportunity and could afford it. I also love their Oragami.. or Paper art.
