yes, installing too many software will occupy space in your primary partion of hard drive. You must have more than 2 GB of free space in your primary partion. Increasing capacity of RAM also increase the speed of your computer. Main thing is cache memory that your motherboard supports....so if you have a good processor (P-4 3 GHz OR AMD 64bit) + 512 RAM + 80 GB HDD and 2 MB Cache memory motherboard then i do not think your computer will ever get slow...it will run quite fast.

remove alll startup program and disable non useful services and restart ur computer working fine

i think the best way to increase the speed of the computer is increase your RAM or double your RAM..

increasing RAM is one option.sometimes ther is a possibility of getting affected by viruse which makes the slow down.Try to run antiviruse.Check the windows manager and kill the unwanted programs that are running.

The only way to increase your computer speed is to increase the ram............ i think you should go for 1Gb ram that will be enough........ close all your unnecessary softwares from the task menu or system menu as they would slow down your pc.... dont use norton antivirus as it consumes 30 mb ram .... i am using Nod32...... thats very light...... the most important thing make sure that your pc doesnot contain any spyware.... you can detect spyware by zone alrms or lavasoft.....
