should there be strict punishment for piracy?

i know many of the people buy pirated discs instead of original due to huge difference in their amount. but has anyone ever bothered how much it hurts the one who has created the software or songs or anything else whose pirated copy is being sold in the market??
i feel really bad if i think of buying a pirated copy.
what do U THINK??

Where i live, theres not anyone why buy pirated copyes, of anything where i live! All download them themself! I think that selling pirtaed copies is worse than downloading them! When you sell a pirated copy, you earn money on other peoples work! But i have downloaded some movies, and software! But it's because it was something that i would never have payed for!
