Have you ever read a book that has had a deep impact on you or your life at the time. I remember when I read the book 'Fountainhead' by Ayn Rand. I was in university at the time and so much of the book impacted my life. However 'The Fountainhead' is abook i can read over and over and depending on what is happening in my life at the time, the book always takes on a new meaning.

I read Fountainhead, and it is a good book, had I read it at a younger age, and/or an earlier time in my life I can see that it would have had a more profound impact on my life, but as it stood, at the time, it was kind of trivial compared to some of the things I had already been through. However, this is not to dissuade one from reading it. Im glad it affected you positively, and hope it has the same effect on others.

What you say is true! The fountainhead makes more of an impression when you read it at a younger age. Maybe its the fact that one ismore impressionable then and more radical in their thoughts. As you read it later in life after having been through things like I am now, you can see that it can sometimes take on an extremist approach against the concept of altruism. But thanks for your repsonse. I agree that the book must be read. It belongs in a treasure chest for books!!!!

I'll have to check that book out at some point...someone had recommended Ayn Rand in another forum I go to just a little while ago...To answer the question at hand though I would have to say its a toss up between Letting Go of the Person You Used to Be OR Awaken the Buddha Within both by Lama Surya Das and both fantastic books...

Thanks for this. I haven't read either of them, but will give them a shot!
