Almost 8 out of 10 times I click on a discussion to respond to, I find that it is about 3-4 paragraphs long! that is absurd! people are going into way too much detail on one particular discussion! who else thinks that some of the discussion are starting to become way to long and boring to read?!

Unfortunately I think people are trying to cheat the system again. It seems too many are coming up with these long drawn out hard luck stories. I'm guessing some are watching Jerry Springer and deciding they should post on here claiming it's their story lol.

I think it all depends on the discussion. Some need to have that many paragraphs to pass information. Besides, at least it has some content instead of "What's your eye color?" Or "what's your favorite color". If it seems to long to me then I ignore them.

Yea thats true, I also get bored with the discussions that are real short and boring...like whats your fav.color? or whats your fav.food? etc. I agree with you though, if I start to read one that seems really long and boring I dont even bother! thanks for your response!

What's so wrong with that? If it's a quality post, then it's godd because we can actually read something in here that actually has some sense. as opposed to the millions of senseless and idiotic one liner topics.

I don't mind the longer discussions. They are making more money and I do too when I respond. Why are you complaining? LOL You get paid for your content of your responses/discussions! I dont know about you but I'd rather be paid higher than the people who are posting one sentence or one word!

I agree. I think its great that people are posting good, interesting discussions, but I am not about to sit and read through 3-4 paragraphs. I get bored, and go on to something else. I am also annoyed by the terrible posts, that require a one word answer. Whats the point of that?

yes i totally agree, it needs to be in between....not just one or two words, and not 3-4 paragraphs! somewhere in btwn that! thanks for your response~

I have found that too. I know we are meant to post in detail, but that doesn't mean long winded, dragged out answers. I can rarely be bothered to read a hugely long post and usually skip them. If people kept to the point whilst still being descriptive, it would be much better. I think having long questions and answers is much better than 'how old are you?' or answers like 'I don't care'. That annoys me more than anything!

Some topics just need more explaining, and some people need to "talk" more. It is like reading a short story, I know. You must want something with content, or you would not be finding these topics. Maybe just a little more content than you bargained for.

I feel it is more fun now, because there is something substantial to discuss and talk about rather than the earlier stupid questions about what car do you own on what cell phone do you own.
discussion forums are basically to express our ideas and find solutions to problems.
those earlier survey type questions are better left of business surveys only.

I really dont mind sometimes reading some discussions which are a bit long as long as what they put there is substantial and clear, but other discussion seems to be going round and round and quiet confusing, i think they're just trying to make it longer. But i appreciate now the discussions here in mylot, its a lot of improvement from what it was before.

Yeah... i too find that a bit absurd.... may be it's because of the refinement made by mylot, people are making sure theri discussions count by posting longer topics and responses....

I agree with you. If you can create a brief and meaningful response, why bother about explain it as many paragraph as it take? We're not writing an article, arent we. One thing I've noticed is too many people post their personal problems and make this site like an online consultation room. It's okay to post them though, but when it becomes too many, it will be boring and less interesting.

Discussion should always be brief and to the point. Detailed expalanation will create confusion. I will try to present the facts forcefully in shortest way possible.

From what I've read recently people appear to believe that by posting longer responses and topics they have a better chance of receiving more money. Also, some topics need more written about them than just a simple one liner. Some need a background story to set up the premise, especially if it is some personal problem or story they are sharing with the world.

As MyLot community is growing... there will be more responses on a thread. I think this is natural.
And one thing, out of thousand responses there maybe one that can help the starter of the thread..
