Many Christians (and non-Christian too:)) will celebrate Christmas. But do you really understand the meaning of Christmas? It's not about the day, but the meaning..
Some has told that Christmas means gather with family, vacations, holiday, shoppings and maybe some celebrations..
I think Christmas isn't Christmas til it happens in your heart. What does happen? Christ was born in your heart. It is Christmas...
What say you?

I am not a particularly religious person and so am not into the church side of things, however, I do think that the values of christmas have changed over the years , certainly in the western world. Yes I agree that there should be celebration of an event over 2000 years ago that has had a major impact on the world and still does in many parts of the world. But, in many parts of the world it has become a commercial holiday and an opportunity to make as much money as possible, sometimes from people who really can't afford it.
I remember when I was young receiving only one or two token gifts of very little value, it was all my parents could afford, nowadays its nothing less than the latest game console or mobile phone that is wanted. It sickens me to see what youngsters really expect to get.
I was with my new family in the Philippines last year over christmas and I must say it is the nicest one for me for many years, no expectations of valuable gifts, but just a nice time together as a family relaxing and remembering the great values of life.
I hope you have a nice christmas this year, I know I will.

I really appreciate it. I hope you will find the true meaning of Christmas too. Christ was born for us and it's not only at Betlehem, but now it's in your heart too..
Christmas isn't Christmas til it happened in your heart..

I believe its the time of year where people stress and end up with no money. Because people have to have big and better gifts or lights to put on there houses. People get so caught up on material things. They forget the real purpose of what they are celebrating. Even though I don't celebrate anymore. I just feel that Jesus really wasn't born on December 25th. It doesn't mention it anywhere in the Bible. So why celebrate something if its not the real date. Because it was a anicent pagan celebration(The Roman Saturnalia) so it makes it ok to celebrate other gods. No, I don't think so, I only worship one God. "Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; and quit sharing with them in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving them." Ephesians 5:10,11

I don't think that if we celebrate Christmas on Dec 25th then we will celebrate other gods. If it's your world view then you shouldn't live in this world. Because this world full of sins and many gods that we've worshiped it though we never realized it. I don't believe there is another god/s. There is only GOD. So, what bother us if we use that day? It's not the day for gods, there's no gods. It's GOD's day.
Christian has transformed the meaning of pagan day and worship God in that day...This is our calling, transforming this world to worship the one and only GOD Trinity...
Hopefully you understand it.

I say you need to get out your bible and read it again.Know where in the bible does it say christ was born December 25.I strongly beleive in GOD and his son Jesus Christ, but there is nonthing in the bible to make Dec.25 his birthday and any more christmas is over rated. The true meaning of christmas does come from the heart,it is a time to help and do things that you may ordinarily say I don't have time.Everybody seems to have plenty of time to string up pretty lights decorate the yard, what about making some cookies and picking a house at random and stop and give them some cookies,or help a elderly or disabled person do something they can't do.I think that it is a time to show your love and compassion for your fellow man.As far as it being a birthday it is someones birthday I'm sure but just because someone said this will be christs birthday I am not celebrating it I will have a tree and a small dinner I always give thanks .

I agree if there's no place in the Bible that told it..I've never told about there's in the Bible. But, Christ was born is in the Bible.. I don't care about the day (I think I have mentioned it), I could celebrate Christmas everyday. But, I don't think it's with dinner and a tree:) It's human thought about birthday. There's not in the Bible, you must read it again:) But, I care about my fellow man, have Christ already born in their heart? Peace on earth.....
Thanks for the opinion. I really appreciate it.

Why does everything get so commercialized today? Humanity's greed for money and making money off of anything thats available. It's a shame that the birth of Christ has to be overshadowed by people mauling each other over a stupid over-priced video gaming system that will be cheaper in a year anyway. I totally agree with you that Christmas is in the heart. That's how it should be!

Yup..Good analysis about Christmas and Money. I agree with you. Many Christians has been fooled by commercialism and money. The love of money is more important than Christ..Unfortunately, it's in the birth of Christ:(

Well, to me since I am a Christian, Christmas is a Celebration of Jesus and his birth. Too many people have turned this into just shopping, etc. and forget about the True meaning of this day. I have often wondered how so many people can turn their backs on this, and the principals everything was based on. Yes, Christmas is a day for Celebration, but it is also for so much more.

Christmas is comemmorating Jesus Christ's birth. We celebrate His birthday by gift-giving and sharing without asking for anything in return. Also this is the season wherein a lot of the people get a long vacation so it's the perfect time to gather up and reunite with the family and other relatives as well.

What's the connection between Christ Birthday and the presents between the family? Shouldn't the present give to Christ (I thought it's in the Bible)? Where is Christ in your Christmas?

I think Christmas is sooo commercialized; Christmas has turned into a shopping frenzy. Christmas is (to me) supposed to be the time when we reflect on Jesus being born and what He did for us not how many gifts we can get. I see so many people depressed because they can't afford gifts for their kids are in debt because they have spent all their money during Christmas time. I think that we all should recognize the true meaning (Jesus) and not focus it around some fat dude in a red and white suit.

I like your word. Especially about the time to reflect on your existence. People rarely thought about existence, but always think about materialism:)
Thanks for the opinion about the true meaning of Christmas.

Ha..ha..Thanks for the opinion. I really appreciate it.
It's not about judging. It's discussing..If you have truth, you will tell it and spread it..I have my opinion based on the Bible, because I'm Christian. And I'm asking to someone else..I don't want to make sure that mine is pure..You are judging me:) But it's OK.
I'm asking about people motives....And, what's yours?
