Why are the chinese men the main cooks?

Have you ever noticed when getting that friday takeaway dinner for the week from the local chinese takeaways that behind the counter standing over the hot oven cooking your food is a man more often than a women.How come it seems all chinese men are such good cooks is it a way of life for chinese culture to have the man in the kitchen as I believe in the western society even with more western men stepping up to kitchen duty the woman remains the promanent figure when we think cooking?
