Years ago I was married to a chainmaille knitter. We had a shop at the local renaissence festival. I bet I lost most of my eyesight eying swarovski and czech crystals, along with repairing the small chains on hand flowers.

Can it really do your eyesight harm? I'll have to be careful!

I just got a great book on that very thing. It's called Bead on a Wire subtitle: Making Handcrafted Wire and Beaded Jewelry by Sharilyn Miller.
If you are interested in Chainmaile, I just met a chainmaile writer on line named Dylon Whyte. I will be ordering his book soon. His first book is out of print but he has another book that he co-authored that I will order from Amazon soon.
I also got some split ring pliers that are making jewelry making so much easier on my hands.

Bead and Button magazine has a lot of great information on beading in different styles. There are also tons of books on jewelry making on www.half.com Just do a search on jewelry making. I hope this helps.

I would go to an arts and crafts store---near me we have Michaels or AC Moore. Buy a basic all things included kit that has a basic manual----and that would get you started OR get a book from one of these stores and read up a bit.
Sometimes they even have classes----

hello...jewelry making is a lot of fun. I haven't gotten into the wire stuff yet but do work with beads and things. I make earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pins. I don't know if you have a Micheals in the Uk or not or a craft store. But they have beginning kits on how to twist wire and make jewelry with wire. Also here are a few links that may help you on journey into wire and beads.
