what in heavens does this mean? i tried my best to get a project sanctioned, but due to verifiable, quantifiable, obviously noticeable reasons it fell through. my boss keeps telling that i lack the killer/killing instinct. instead of telling me what is it that i should do right to get it, i get blasted and pushed towards developing this 'killer' instinct. i don't whether i would develop this, but i believe i will end up developing an instinct to 'chill' my boss. btw, how does one develop this? is this something which a proper education can teach me... or is it a natural "instinct"?

Well, in the business world I think it has a different meaning than in a social environment. In business, a "killer instinct" would mean someone that is ruthless in how he approaches his work: his customers, his competition, his sales, etc. Someone in business with a killer instinct would "do whatever it takes" (including hurting others' potentially) to make the sale or close the deal. I don't always think it's a good thing to have, personally.

what your boss means is probably the instinct, all that makes towards being a 'go-getter'.it is the determination which brings in a lot of hard work that increases the focus and help you succeed. but, one important thing is the detachment from results . i suggest you read 'the secret of work' by swami vivekananda. be sure that when you put in your best efforts, you will definitely get results--if not today, it will happen tomorrow. strive for perfection in your presentation .try to pay attention to detail . good luck.

An assasin has the killer instinct. His goal is the only vision he has and what ever blocks that come in between he wont complain but cross ahead and assasin the target.
hope u now get what your Boss wants
