i think it's definately rude to just go up to someone especially a perfect stranger and rub their stomach, however people are delighted with pregnant bellies, and i included think pregnant women are so cute and want to rub their bellies although i DONT! the incoming of a new life never ceases to amaze me!

I don't think it is strange, I think people are just amazed at the beginning of a new life. It would be very rude, however, to touch a pregnant woman's stomach without asking permission! Some people are just not as touchy-feely as others and don't care to be touched at all. If your daughter is uncomfortable with being touched I don't think it would be rude to politely let the person know that. I would never even ask to touch a strangers' stomach, I don't even remember touching my daughters' when they were pregnant!

It is wrong for a stranger to come up and rub someone else's stomach. It completely invades their personal space. I hated it when people would do that when I was pregnant. I always wanted to do it back to the person who would touch my stomach just to see how they felt about it. Unfortunately I had manners and never returned the favor.
