How do you feel about "store-bought" gifts vs. hand-made gifts for Christmas?
Consider both the GIVING and the RECEIVING viewpoints.
Have your feelings changed as you have aged?

It would depend on the gift and who it was from. My stepmum always makes beautiful cards which she recycles form others and are lovely to recieve.
Children make lovely presents from the heart even if they are a bit dodgy, they are worth treasuring.
My father in law once fixed up the rocking horse I had as a toddler for my boys and that was nice.
I wish I had time to make pretty candles or pots as gifts.

I used to like to make homemade cards, and I made several scrapbook pages for a book for my mother. Then I heard she didn't really like what I did, so now I don't make anything by hand any more. Why bother if my own mother feels like this?

Aw, that's sad. Are you sure she really didn't like it? Could it be that the person that told you that was jealous because she really did like what you were doing and they were jealous of it? Sometimes you can't believe everything you hear if it's not directly from that person.

I like giving store-bought and handmade gifts as well as receiving them as well! I think that receiving handmade gifts mean more because the person went out of their way to make something for u instead of go out and buy something that might have taken them only 5 min to pick out. However, there's definitely nothing wrong with store-bought gifts!

Gifts r gifts. It does n't a matter that whether they r store-bought or hand-made. I like both types of gifts and if anyone gives me gifts. I do n't take of that whether it is store-bought or hand-made. The only thing which i see is that is "passion". With which passion person is giving gifts to me. People consider that hand-make gifts r cheap and people dislike such received gifts but i think that its very tough to make any thing with hands specially, gifts for others. Its easy to buy an object from shop but very hard to buy porducts and then convert them in a sutable shape and make them a beautiful gift. It needs more time and hard working.

ok, i believe that most will say that gifts hand made will be more sincere, but in the age right now, as long as the item is expensive, it will be a good gift...

That depends on the person who receives the gift. In my case, If it is for my mum, I'm sure she'll appreciate a hand made one. But for my father, he will need shoes, perfumes, t'shirts etc. Anyway, I think you must give a handmade gift to a person who values it and you. I will value both hand made plus a store bought gift. What matters for me is the person remembers me.

I love both. I think its the thought that counts
But major bonus points if its actually something I wanted or could use. hehe
which can be homemade or store bought. I don't mind either...
I think my feelings have pretty much stayed the same as I have gotten older. I appericate anyone thinking of me.

It depends on an individual how he likes it ! Personally I feel hand made gifts have emotions, feelings and intimacy behind them. A well planned and beautiful hand made gift is any day will be better for me than a store bought one ! Like If I want to present some one some hand made gift them I will plan it well in advance and I will work on it sincerely ! Like I would like to present a nice painting as a gift, then I would start working on it few months well in advance !
Merely you want to present some thing and that has to be a hand made, if that is the feeling, and if you present any thing without much of taste I think that may reciprocate in a wrong way or you are conveying a wrong message !
You have to be choosy, selective and should know the taste of an individual before takingany decision,
Feelings natuarlly get change with the advancement of age ! Because our priorities they change, our experience in the life gets increased, we are exposed to many many incidences and make our self seasoned. At the Old age I think it is the intimacy and concern, we require...and I beluieve that is a bid gift for the elderly ones !

For me, It is much appreciated if all the gift your receive or you send is hand made gifts. ITs really aprreciatable. But in my part, that I dont have any idea or knowledge in design making I would decided to have a store-bought even do it costly too expensive as long as I have a gift I just try to bought on it and try the quality it has..
