Raj Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi made a growth of hotel industry worldwide.
Raj Bahudur Mohan Singh Oberoi was the grand old man of the Indian hotel industry. He was a great entrepreneur. His entrepreneurship has earned nine off his hotels, a place in the Leading Hotels of the World.
He was born on 1898. After school educati0l1he began his career as a front desk Clerk at the Cecil Hotel, Shimla. At that time he earned a salary of Rs.50 a month. He acquired his first property Clarke's Hotel in 1934 by mortgaging his wife's jewellery and all his assets. After buying the hotel, he never looked, back and climbed the ladders of success one by one in Hotel industry. A decade later, he became the first Indian to run a hotel Chain in the country. He opened the first five star international hotel in India in Delhi. Then he launched flight catering operations and a travel agency. There, was another feather in his cap. He also converted dilapidated palaces, historical monuments and buildings into premium hotels. He imported management expertise from Australia, Egypt and Singapore, to place, his group on the world map. He also took over properties overseas. So he was a man of vision with entrepreneurship.
