So I thought I would share this wonderful site with everyone because I have had so much success with it so far. I joined SparkPeople on July 4th 2006, and as of today I have lost 20 pounds! I am two thirds of the way towards my goal of losing 30 pounds, but 20 pounds in 5 months is fantastic! I've gone from a size 12 to a size 3/5! The key is working towards a healthier lifestyle: if the weight comes off slowly then it will be more likely to stay off!
So, if you are looking for something to help you lose weight or just get fit, here are reasons why you should check it out:
1. It's 100% free!
2. Nutrition Tracker: Really useful tool - just search for the food in their database or add it in yourself if it's not there, and get started tracking calories, fat, carbs, etc, plus up 75 nutrients like calcium, iron, vitamin C!
3. Fitness Tracker: Find out how many calories you burn with different types of exercise. Also, get suggestions on different exercises you can do in your own home.
4. Community: Great online community with hundreds of teams and groups to join for virtually every interest. I find this has been a huge support for me especially through the tough times.
5. Resources: Nutrition, motivation, fitness and more! Read tons of articles on all sorts of health topics.
Now, the website: http://www.sparkpeople.com
Super easy!
That site has helped me a ton! Does anyone know of any other sites that have worked for them, or other methods, etc.
Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight that they would like to share? I know I want to tell everyone!

I might take a look into it..but I'm not much into weight training...I get enough of a workout lifting 50 bags of mortar and slabs of marble and stone...lol

I would say that probably is quite enough of a workout! That must be tiring. I don't think I'd really enjoy physical labour though. Heh if not for those reasons, then maybe for the nutritional information? Never hurts to make sure you're getting what you need.

I have lost 47lbs in about 6 months. I have a long way to go. My problem is the excersise. I have had three knee surgeries on one knee and I can't do awhole of stuff. I do walk on the treadmill and to crunchers but that's about it. I can's run which sucks because I would probably lose it much faster. I have to lose atleast another 80 lbs before August. I'm in a wedding. I will check out the site.

You should try swimming! It is a great low impact exercise for those who can't run. It should be fine for your knee (Of course, consult a doctor before starting any new exercise plan)

For this site, I have found that the above tool that I mentioned have helped me a great deal. One of the most important things is the support system! Having other people with similar goals help you and motivate you feels great! And it feels great in return to help others!
That's one reason I posted this here, to help as many people as possible, since it has helped me! I hope you like it!

It's possible that you need to change your exercise routine if you have reached a plateau. Or, you might not be eating enough - eating too little can be just as bad for you as eating too much. Good luck with it!
