I am originally from Japan and I have been living in USA for almost 10 years.I had a hard time associating with people who couldn't understand how hard it is to live in country where is different from your home country.
I couldn't understand English well when I came to Ohio state where I lived at the first.I was 19 and I tried my best to understand what people says but lots of people laughed at me and also made this face that "you are so stupid that you cannot even understand what I said in English!".
I have grown up in totally different culture, language, life style this and that but I tried to fits in the best I could and most of poeple who I have met there was very cold and mean.
Many people looked at me with strange eyes and some people even told me that I better go back to my country because I cannot speak English well and I am also an asian so I am an outside after all.
I became stronger than before but It is still my bitter memories.
What would be the hardest(or at least hard things that you could imagine)to live in a different country than where you have grown up??

I am so sorry you had to experience that as it is awful
Because the hardest ting is what you have experienced going to a Country where you can't speak the Language and trying to fit in with their Cultures and Manners
I think it is awful that People get treated like you did when you are trying

Thanks for your very kind comment.
Sometimes it just doesn't help right at all no matter how hard you try to fits in.I was very upset at myself that I couldn't understand what people says and what I want to say to them.
I am still learning every day from TV,newspapers and also people who I could talk without feeling worry like here :)
I met a lot of nice people as well in USA though :) I was in a bad luck when I was living in the middle of nowhere in Ohio state.
Thanks,friend :)

Not sure since I've never lived anywhere but the U.S., but a nephew of mine lived in Central America for 5 years. He didn't have any trouble that I remember (he was fluent in Spanish before he went), but people everywhere have stereotypes about Americans so I'm sure that factored into how some people looked at him.
I'd guess that for Americans living in a place where the Iraq war is not popular would be difficult.
