Isn't it interesting that some of the best poetry is written when the authors have suffered from some major emotional catastrophe in their lives such as the death of a loved one or the breakup of a love relationship? The feelings of loss, pain and despair can sometimes become so overwhelming that one can become almost completely dysfunctional with depression. Writing then becomes a release of built up emotions that seem to surround the heart of the author.
Have any of you ever felt that way? If you ever have or are going through difficult times in your life then you can probably relate to what many poetry authors have to say in their writings. I never new I was able to write poetry until I had just such an emotional catastrophe in my life. My poems are a release of what was going on inside of me at the time they were written. I hope you enjoy reading them, as they are a part of my inner self exposed for all to see.
Unspoken Pain
All around there's love in the air
But here I am full of despair
I walk alone, with vacant stare
No one beside me, walking there
No idea of the tears cried in vain
Surrounding my heart in unspoken pain.
Behind the mask they'll never see
This salty flood of misery
The emptiness within me cry
Why doesn't God just let me die?

Until My Last Breath
Not able to sleep, I stare at the walls
I awoke alone in the early dawn
He’s no longer there, with his loving arms
The tears start to flow, from my pain they’re drawn
I doubt if he knows how much I need him
To tell me he loves me only, ‘til death
As I vowed to him the day we had wed
To love only him until my last breath

The phone never rings
"I'll call you later"
The phone never rings
The heartache begins
The feeling it brings
Of pain and despair
And no where to hide
The tears as they flow
From the pain inside
What hold does she have?
That keeps him away
From the one he said
Till death love, that day
Said "Our hearts are one"
But how can that be?
He says, "I love you"
But it's not to me
Our happy life gone
He took off his ring
Why can't he see it?
He is my whole being

according to a well known critic...great piece of art is done only when the doer's heart is broken....becoz sorrow brings out the real artist in him.....and i've experienced it myself....that when i had to go through the phase of being betrayed by the guy i loved i wrote such poems that when are read by anyone bring tears to their eyes...

the discussion is very wise in itself.i do feel that poetries are expressions of mental condition of the writer, and sometimes the poet is helpless he brings this helplessness on paper so that it is shared and the pain is dissipated
