i am thinking of getting a dog. what are the best ones to get

I would definately have to go with the American Pit Bull Terrier. They are the sweetest, most awesome dogs you could get & they're great with children as well. So that's the breed of dog that I would reccomend.

When I was growing up we had a poodle, a terrier and a German Shepherd. They were all great dogs...however...I would say that the terrier and the poodle were smart...I like terriers myself...the one we had could understand everything....and was a great companion...

it depends on what you like i think pitbulls are the best dogs on earth there loyal,friendly, and they will protect you no matter what...i think they just got a bad rep....i have 3 pitbulls and a cat and they all get along

You know, when I first read this as I was scanning through discussions, I thought it said, "what is the best dog to EAT". All I could think was, "EWWW!! WHAT A FREAK!" Well... best dog to get... I'm not the one to ask because I hate dogs. Sorry.
