Do you think that television is poisoning the minds of our children?

I don't know if it is quite poisoning their minds, but I certainly think it is preventing them from further developihem. There are so many things that they could be doing other than watching tv. I don't have kids yet, but my boyfriend and I have decided that when we do we are not going to have cable. That way we can completely control what our kids watch. I find the quality of television programming these days has gone so far downhill - anyone sick of reality TV? There isn't much of value on TV these days. There is also the problem of child obesity - which I'm sure TV watching contributes too - there are much mroe ACTIVE activities that would be beneficial to children's health - join a sports team, or just spend more time OUTSIDE instead of in front of a glowing screen (computers included).
