I have heard that before but I think it is just an "old wives tale". As far as I know, the only thing bad about eating a heavy meal and then going right to bed is if you have a hiatal hernia or problems with heartburn. Also if you eat and then go to bed your body doesn't have time to burn off any of the calories so your food turns to fat easier, or something like that.

i don't think it's just an old wives' tale or anything like that. personally, it makes me feel rather uncomfortable to go to bed after a heavy meal. i find it difficult to breathe. haven't you heard the saying, eat like a king at breakfast, a queen at lunch, and a pauper at dinner? i believe, there's a scientific reason for this.

I don't know if it's bad or not but I don't think so. For what I know you fall asleep after an heavy meal because your organism gets all your energy to your stomach to be able to digest it, that's why you may feel tired and sleepy after it.

Yes it is bad to go to sleep after you eat a heavy meal cause you can get heart burn and stay awake all night long. Also its not good to go to bed in a full stomach,it can keep you from falling to sleep and they say it all turn into fat.

I was always told not to eat after a certain time because your food needs to digest. I would say if you eat late at nite then go to sleep, you didnt give your body anytime to burn any of ur dinner off. I know when I eat later at night I'm miserable trying to go to sleep

i'm not really sure if going straight to bed has a connection with pancreatitis, but a lot of folks would say that's what you'll get when you do. it's what we call "bangungot".

I think that if you do this often, you'll run into problems. I've eaten heavy meals or late night meals and gone to bed an hour or two after. I always feel so tired after eating a heavy meal. The bed just calls my name and I can't resist.

absolutely yes! it will slow down your metabolism which can result in constipation. it may also affect the circulation of blood and air as your digestive organs are tight and full. you better eat 2 hours before you go to sleep.

a pillow to rest your head on and sleep - a pillow to read your head on and sleep
I have heard too that it is not good to sleep after a big meal. Not only is it not good for your digestive system to lay down so soon after eating, but certain foods are claimed to cause nightmares and bad dreams. I don't know that I have ever experienced this myself, but I do frequently have frustrating and upsetting dreams that I wish I could rid myself of.

yes, cause your muscle will be relax and there will no enough energy to diget all the food you eat. and it can also result as your additional weight! i cant blame you cause whenever we eat the blood flow in our brain decreases becasue it will be neede in the digestive system andthis cause us to feel very sleepy. so just try to stay awake at least two hours before going to bed. and maybe because of those reasons, old folks scared us if we will sleep full.

As far as I know, many people do not recommend to sleep after eating meals. It has got to do with your digestive system. When you sleep some of your body functions slows down. The food won't be digested properly thus resulting into poor absorption of the nutrients in the food. If you're on a proper diet, you should also watch your sleeping habits.
