So United States is going ahead with the deal to engage in Civil Nuclear co-operation. What do you think this means to you, to the world and to the regional peace.
As an Indian I know that the deal would not be used to create nuclear weapon. India wants the nuclear weapons to be reduced not increased. But will sufficient safe guards be taken to ensure that politicians would not use this to enlarge their image and popularity?

any policy that puts one more neuclear weapon on earth is a bad thing. We dont know what potential benefits of the treaty may be but we do know what potential dangers there are. Nuclear weapons are never safe, the human race can never be trusted with them. Imagine a saddam with them? imagine the taliban with them? imagine a hitler with them? It is clear that no sane government can ever use them, so why have them?

Thank you for your comment, and i agree with you 100%...the existing nuclear wepons should be destroyed. but here the co-operation is civilian. India is a very huge country with a very high population. so naturally we need a lot of energy. it would also save the fossil fuels from being used too much. India has agreed that civil and defense nuclear program will be seperate.
Do you think it makes a difference if the technology is used for civilian purpose?
