How has a disater of any kind affected your life?

I am a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. This disater has affected my life in so many ways. The negatives are: I lost my father in the hurricane, I am separated most of my family and friends, and sometimes I get homesick, and sometimes I get lost because I am in a new larger city. The positives are this experience has brought me closer to God, I have a better job, I met some new friends, I am getting a better education, I appreciate life more, and I am getting a fresh start in a new city. Can you share your experiences with me. I would love to hear them. What ever your situation remember Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,who have been called according to his purpose YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE FAITH AND BELIEVE P.S. I SPELLED GULF WRONG WHEN I DESCRIBED MY PICTURE LOL!!!

I know it is hard, I had people in tha N.O. also, I had a similar situation, my cuz passed away about 2 months after the storm, even though she moved closer to use 5 years before, she felt a sense of emptiness and depression and her sickness got worse, she was only in her 30's. I dont know what I would have done if it were me or my family, the materialistic, you can get over, it's just the spiritual/mental part. I say Pray because just think about those who have it worse.
