Also ask you congressman to write a letter to ss on your behalf. I had a lawyer and my congressman when I first applied and that made it easier for me. I am in a state that loves to deny people.

Believe me, I know what you are going through, I have been denied twice and lost one appeal. It has been since 2004 that I have been trying, my lawyer keeps saying hang in there, but doesn't understand that while I am hanging in there, I am in the process of loosing my home because of going broke. I am not one to give advice, and I surely am not going to use the usual hang in there line. Do you have an attorney? If so , if you think he is not doing well for you maybe you could switch attorneys, I am not sure if it is allowed but it may be an option and worth checking into. It makes me angry to think of all the people that I do know who receive SSI but do not need it, but the ones who need it have to fight tooth and nail to receive it and in the meantime they go broke fighting for it. All I can offer is Good Luck in your situation.

I had to fight for 5 years to get approved for accidental disability retirement pension. I had to go to more doctors than Carter has little liver pills lol. When I started to go to doctors of my own choice the insurance company did not like that but they could not do anything except not pay those doctors (I had health insurance to pay for my doctors). The insurance company had a private eye watching me and I was told that he too pictures of me picking up an apparently heavy bag. I did not see these picture nor did my lawyer or the lawyer for the insurance company. After seeing abut 6 judges (workman's comp insurance fudges) I finally go the break that I needed and that judge asked if anyone in the room had seen these pictures. No one had and he said that since no one had seen them it was inadmissible evidence and I won finally. The city that I worked for had actually taken me off of Workman's comp after they were told abut the pictures and I had to use my sick leave, personal days and vacation days that I had. I had worked for that city for over 30 years and so had quite a bit of time on the books that I used up. Since the city has it's own pension plan I am not able to have Social Security unless I worked more quarters and then if I did the city would take a dollar away from me for every dollar that I earned over a small set amount and I would have to pay taxes on that money. Right now I do not have to pay any income taxes because I worked for a city.
