Is Pres. Bush in denial, or just hard headed?

United States

Sometimes I have to wonder if President Bush really believes the US is "winning" the war in Iraq (whatever "winning" means), or if he simply refuses to leave because he doesn't want to look like he gave up, or simply caved to pressure from ticked off citizens of either his own country or from elsewhere in the world. Either way, I would hate to have his job. But I would hate to think he's just being stubborn, and trying to prove a point because he doesn't want to be the president that let somebody talk him into doing something (that maybe he didn't want to do).

Frankly, I think he is both.. He is hard-headed and stubborn, and stubborn about being hard-headed and stubborn~

I pretty much feel he doesn't know his @$$ from a hole in the ground at this point. They joke on TV that his only supporters are Laura and his dog (I forget the dog's name at the moment).

It certainly seems like he's almost in denial. If he honestly believes we're 'winning', there are more screws loose in his head than the American public already believes. I keep waiting for him to break our regular broadcast and announce that we've caught Osama, but it'll likely never happen. Osama will die a free man.

You're probably right about that. I think Bush gave up on Osama a while ago..

Personally I have thought for years Mr. Bush lives in a world slightly north of the rest of us...but that is just me. What I did discover while checking on Senility vs Alzheimers is this, which I found to be rather frightening. Bush Pre-senile Dementia Video The difference is obvious! http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/video1019.htm

The funny thing is he doesn't make that much money. Almost every CEO in the nation makes more than he does. I can't understand why anyone would want to be president, but I'm glad there are always people who want to run.

I'm no Bush fan myself but I do understand what he is trying to do in Iraq. It's not so much as "winning" rather than making a difference in that region of the world. He might have snaked his way into Iraq via his WMD tirade but getting Saddam out of there is a good thing. Current policies that he is implementing in Iraq is clearly not working, that needs to change but that's about it. There should be no pullout of troops until the job is done in that area. I feel for the families of the men and women who are in the service. Know that people around the world look up to them and respect them for this very huge undertaking that is bigger than any or all of the U.S. politicians put together.

I agree it was good to take out Saddam Hussein. It was an amazing day when he was captured, and then when the statue in the middle of that square was pulled down by all of those people. However, it seems to me like everything else has just been a huge clusterf*ck.

Bush is a President of USA, the biggest economy in the world. This brings him that feeling of greatness and immense power. And this feeling has led him to forget about respecting other subordinate nations. This happens to the lowest of the human being. So according to me Bush needs some councilling in this regard. I would like to request to the people of USA to appeal to their president to undergo some councilling in this perspective.

If he won't take advice from his key advisers, his military leaders or anybody else in the government re: sending the nations sons and daughters off to war, it's pretty unlikely he's going to take up counseling based on the consensus of the US population that he's a probable nut case. LOL He might listen to his dog, though.

I think Bush realizes that, even if we were losing, if he comes out and says we are it's going to give the terrorist groups responsible for the continued bloodshed there more incentive to keep fighting and will help them recruit more members. And, I don't think the situation there is as bad as the media is making it out to be. Honestly are any more people getting killed in Iraq than are killed in New York City on an average day?

I wonder what there is that George W. doesn't understand about his approval rating slipping to an all-time low of 27%. How can any one man think he knows more than all the rest of the American people together? He is so arrogant. They put together a team to study the situation in Iraq, and he's not wanting to listen to them, either. My husband and I just shake our heads every time we see him on TV. I still think he's going to go down in history as America's worst president. Others before him have been weak and lacking in effect, but none of them ever damaged the country as badly as George W. has done. It's almost embarrassing to admit we're from the US any more. People all over the world think we're all just like he is.

Which is stupid. He's sending more and more troops away from home (to die).. what happens if something big takes place here in the United States? I guess we call up the reserves? I think he'd be crazy to send more soldiers to Iraq.
