Do you trust the FDA?

Do you believe what they say about one thing being safe or another not? What about things like perscription drugs, like the thing with Vioxx where the whistleblower guy worked for the FDA and was told to keep his mouth shut. Is it just me or are we taking a gamble when we making our health decisions based on their recommendations? Or tell me that I'm being a paranoid kook and why!

The FDA has a history of being an ally of the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, I am always suspicious of anything the FDA approves.
