What do you think of Barry Bonds?

He just signed a contract yesterday to play another year with the Giants. Is anyone rooting for him to break the all-time home run record? I'm split on the issue, because I know there are so many cheaters in this era in baseball...

I would have rather have seen him fade into obscurity. I have too much respect for what Hank Aaron did and too many questions about what Barry Bonds did to see baseball's most coveted title be tarnished. That and I'm a little bitter that the Pirates haven't been good since the days he played for them.

Lol! Yeah, they really have had alot of tough years! I'm an A's fan, so thanks for Kendal he's not the hitter he was, but he definately plays his hardest everyday!

He's a cheater that is making others take the fall for him (wonder if there are any payments involved in that), I have no respect for cheaters.

Neither do i. Suspensions and fines should be more severe.

You are asking me right?
CHICAGO WHITE SOX, St.Louis Cardinals, New York Mets. Those are my favorites. I like a lot of other teams though. the main reason i either like or dislike teams is the roster. For example Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics, and the LA Angels are other teams i like. But i might not like the last four teams in a few years if some of the players move to other teams. The top three teams are teams i'll probably root for, for many years to come. And I will forever be a Chicago White Sox fan.

Barry Bond situation is very weird at this point. Im not sure whether to believe him or to believe he used steroids. I think he is one of the best players of this generation but the steriod scandal has indeed damaged his image.

It is tough to decipher whether he's telling the truth or saving himself the Mark Mcguire treatment. One day I'm sure it will all be cleared up!

Good point, I kind of forgot about that! I guess thats why the government is after him, to prove he's lying!

Where do i begin with him? Barry Bonds is a disgrace to the sport of baseball, to all American sports, and all the athletes in the world. I honestly wished that no team would have signed Barry. I hope he doesnt break the homerun record, and that he gets seriously injured before he can hit another ball :] He does not deserve to get any other award or break any other record. Barry would still be a great player without the use of steriods. He is a great shame, and a bigger disgrace.

I'm glad I ran across someone who feels this way! I know there are many people that don't want thim to succeed, because of the points you just mentioned! You're right he would've been a great player without them, but it's not like he is alone on this subject. How would most of the power hitters be without steroids? I know we'd have far less players on the 500 homer list!

OK, i agree on the being juiced up thing/
but let's not forget his skills included stealing
bases, fielding, and hitting for average/
that's why some pitchers won't pitch to him, cuz
his eye is so good...

I don't like bonds, but for different reasons. He isn't a good teammate, and treats everyone with no respect. For that reason I don't want him to break the record. As far as steriods, there are so many players who use or used them, its unfair that he gets singled out as the bad guy because he just happens to be hitting all kinds of home runs.

He was always a great baseball player. But you have to ask the question how many juiced pitchers did he hot all of those home runs off of? The stories about players that used steroids are coming out more and more each year. Many of them are mediocre players that used it to compete with the guys who are talented. The media constantly attacks Barry because he doesn't want to talk to them and share what he knows. Until he talks they will only continue to drag his name through the mud.

He does bring it on himself a bit though. I used to write for sportsticker.com and covered a few Giants games when the primary reporter was sick, and that guy is just mean to people. I guess I'd have a slightly different view if I were him, because he is constantly attacked. And no it's not because he's black, he's just not a nice guy and people don't write good things about mean people.
A guy like Tomlinson on the Chargers warrants respect, and not because of his extrodinary talent. I interviewed him after a Raiders game and he is a great down to earth guy. That's a good reason why the media speaks well of him. So the next time you see Barry playing the race card don't buy it!
