Does a song you listen to, a perfume you wear or a place you visit remind of you good old times? I'm pretty nostalgic myself..songs remind me of the first time I heard them and places help me re-live times I've spent with loved ones. I also enjoy looking at old photo albums and discussing old times. What are your experiences?

Talking about nostalgia.... reminds me of the school reunion we had a few weeks back.. was great... Brought back memories of when I was a book worm.. nowadays I can hardly get through the first few pages of a book.... :( brought back memories of the days when I hardly had anything except exams to care about.. The song "Isn't it a wonder" by Boyzone reminds me of Sarita and Kranti who wanted to sing that song for our last friday chapel service... Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge reminds me of Ambika Muthanna who wanted to be Kajol in th song 'Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna' in the dance we put up... Compromising with things in life reminds me of Gayathri.V(compromise)... I love reliving marriages by watching the cds or browsing the photo albums... Fantastic way to pass time....

You bet! Nothing can be as joyous as going down the memory lane and reliving old times. I still preserve my first reynolds pen, my favourite sweater I used to wear all times as a kid and ofcourse pictures.I couldn't get all of them to US when I was relocating. When ever I feel low or miss my folks, I pull them out of my closet and leave them in the livingroom and yoh! my day is done. I keep sharing so many funny episodes with my husband and we together share a smile :) I believe in living today for the most of it to make good memories for tomorrow .....

Yes, I am very nostalgic. Music does it to me the most. Remembering times back when life was simple and happy. I have no memories of food or smells, so that doesn't happen. Just the songs do it. If I am not happy, I will dwell on the past more. But, when I am happy, I don't look back.

I'm nostalgic too. Music is the one that always remind me of the things that happen in the past. I can remember what's happening in that day the first time I heard the song I can even remember my emotion on that particular moment.

I have this thing about smells and sounds. These two things take me back to long forgotten events. Another interesting thing that I have experienced is the effect of weather. A certain ambient temperature alnog with a certain speed of the breeze takes me back to moments when similar weather conditions existed.

Mostly another day. But in the five years since the attacks, I've gotten so used to people dying needlessly over religious and political ideology, that being reminded of the horror that happened only reminds me of what other countries have happen all the time.

Yes, very much so.
It can come out of the blue.
The other day I was listening to an old cd and it took me right back to college.

oh, happens all the time, for me it's mostly smell that brings back memories and then music, example the first time me and 2 of my best friends went to a certain mall for an autograph session for boyzone, and the smell there was of all these perfumes of all those people mixed together, i say perfumes because the smell was good, no body odors there. Anyway, we had a sample perfume bottle which had no perfume in it, but the smell was distinctly similar to the smell that day, and everytime in school we used to think about that day whenever we opened up that sample bottle. I know it sounds weird but it was really something.

I guess I am really nostalgic..I have a good and powerful memory and each time I hear a song I think when I first heard it....or when there is a particular smell I remember when as a child that smell was in our kitchen...for example...the smell of hot Italian coffee in the morning spreading into the house reminds me of my parents' home because they used to make themselves a good coffee as soon as they got up in the morning...therefore even now and even if I don't drink coffee myself, I can't help feeling at home when there is such a smell of coffee in the house..or think of the smell of bread, I mean the kind of bread they make in a wood fire oven..it reminds me of my summer holidays when I went and do morning shopping with my grandmother in the little town where we had our holiday house on the sea....oh..memories..

Oh yes. I'm a person that loves nostalgia. Anything from an old photograph to a scrapbook triggers off these lovely memories of the days long since gone by. Memories of those events are what make life seem more livable. Funnily though, even memories of times that were very traumatic or unpleasant don't seem half as bad as they seemed back then. It just goes to prove that situations are really not as bad as they seem to be. Today's worst and unsolvable problem will just be a joke a few months or years down the line as surely as the problems of yesteryear seem trivial today. It also gives you hope to keep going on no matter how bad things seem to be at the moment. I have a good memory too, so small cues send me off onto very colorful memories. Sigh, you just made me feel nostalgic all over again!

For me, music is the one that does the trick.
Sometimes when I listen to a particular song, I would be reminded of a particular time or place. It's a bitter-sweet feeling.. if you know what I mean.

Yes I am like that to. With me it is mainly Songs that take me back. I actually only just looked at my Childrens Baby Pictures a couple of Days ago. I wonder where the time has gone one is 20 next month and the other one is 23 next Month. I just can't believe how fast it went. I sat and remembered a lot of things they did.

Sometimes I'll just be overtaken by the desire to eat certain foods that I grew up with. Music is also a
good memory jogger for me, especially when I hear songs
my mother used to listen to when I was a kid.

Yes, I am. Sometimes when I am walking along the road past a certain house and they have this plant which flowers give off a certain smell, I am immediately reminded of my childhood days when I used to go to my aunt's place where she also has the same kind of flowers which give off that sweet, fresh smell. And where music is concerned, certain songs when I hear it again now, reminds me of events in the past when I used to hear the same songs, sadly however, not very happy memories usually. And yes, I do like to sometimes flip through old photographs and relive memories of the happy times in the past with different people, family and friends.

Oh gosh nostalgia! There are a few songs which make me cry like a baby when I hear them such as Careless Whisper by George Michael, it reminds me of when I was 16 or 17 and split up with my first boyfriend. I thought he was the love of my life but I never actually did anything more than go to the pictures with him and share a few stolen kisses LOL! At the time I thought it was the end of the world!
I wear a perfume sometimes called Eden by Cacherel which reminds me of a close friend who passed away about 8 years ago. I think I've worn it so often now that I don't think of her as often as I used to when I first bought it...
There are many more things which bring back memories which I don't wish to share as they're not good memories and I don't want to depress anyone here! Peace. x

That happens to me with almost everything. I can remember something just by hearing a song I was listening to or maybe smelling something. It's a great feeling and a great ability. Sometimes they are bad memories but the past is past.
