When someone else's discussion on the same topic takes off?

Do you ever start a topic that never gets going, and a few days later find the same topic started by someone else at the front of the site, and getting dozens and dozens of responses. I know it's just the luck of the draw, and I don't let it bother me that much. I just wondered if other people felt like this seems to happen to them too?

Wow! That would probably put me right off starting a topic as I am not great at holding peoples interest. Maybe after reading some more topics I might get more confidence.

I know what you mean. I think after being here a few weeks, I stopped taking it personally if my discussions didn't get answers. I often see lots of great topics that only have a couple of responses. Things just get burried under the high volume of posts.

jealousy - do get mad, get smart and do better
I seen it happen and it happend to me too. At first I got mad but then i had to look into it. Look for the time that it was started. some may have been started weeks ago or even months. You get over it and you learn.

Yes, it's true that you just have to get over it and put it down to luck. I have to say that somehow it makes me feel better to know that it happens to other people too. I assumed that it did, but it's nice to have it confirmed directly.
