I'm just curious as to what 'DH' stands for when people are refering to their significant others. I have noticed it used both here and other sites and I think it is used as a short form for 'husband', but what exactly does it mean? Pardon my ignorance...but if I don't ask, I'll never know, right?

As far as I know, it stands for 'Dear Husband' or 'Darling Husband'. I don't know if that's the widespread use of it, though. I don't hang around on many sites where marriage is discussed a lot.

Thank you! I was guessing that it meant something like this, but I didn't want to look like a knob if I misused it.

There are several different short forms for family members. They are as follows: DH - Dear/Darling Husband DW - Dear/Darling Wife SO - Significant Other DS - Dear/Darling Son DD - Dear/Darling Daughter SIL - Sister-in-law BIL - Brother-in-law MIL - Mother-in-law FIL - Father-in-law BF - Boyfriend GF - Girlfriend These are used throughout the internet world as far as I know. I've seen them used on all message boards.
