Last night we rented the DVD of "American History", which I hadn't seen before. Certainly makes you think about the shocking level of hatred some people must have. I think some people don't like their lives, so set out to blame others. Do you think there will ever be an end to racism?

American History X is one of my favorite movies... along with Crash as the other person mentioned. I think racism is a bigger problem than we think. People are racist towards Mexicans - hey we want to put up a big wall to keep them out. People are racists towards Muslims especially after 911. White people are racist towards black people. Black people are racist towards white people. It's time to move past all the bull #$*! I didn't own slaves. No one in my family owned slaves. Let's move past that! Stop using that as an excuse! And the wall is stupid. Find a better, less offensive way to keep ILLEGAL immigrants out. And why not allow more legal immigrants to come into the country. Let's face - we don't want to pick our own citrus and mow our own lawns, so why are we making such a big deal out of this? And should be put a fence up near the Canadian border? Until we learn to stop seeing color this problem won't go away.

I like Comedians like Carlos Mencia - he really calls it like it is when it comes to racism.

Interesting comment. I think there will always be movement of people round the world, probably more so now than at any other time in history (whether legal or illegal) and different groups have to exist together more and more.

FYI its American Histiory X and i love that movie. I HOPE that their will be an end to racism with all races. I think though racism will forver be around because stupid little things people say and how people act towards one another. I agree that people like to blame others for their mistakes in life and I think everyone should see "American History X" because it is very eye opening movie along with the movie "Crash." Even though racism will not end anytime soom I will still try and stop and fight against it so one day my children and grandchildren can grow up in an non racist world.

Very eye opening film, though it's tough to watch because of all the violence and brutal insults. Edward Norton is fantastic in it. I don't think racism will ever end, but the more people of different races, nations, etc. come into contact with each other the more they'll realize they're not all that different after all. I hope.

OOOps, sorry for my mistake in the film's name. Anyway, it made quite an impression on me. Yeah, I think the more you know different people and see them all as individuals, the less racist you'll be. This MyLot discussion forum is good for getting to know others round the globe too.

Yes, I liked Edward Norton too. And the ending was unexpected (won't say here what it was, incase anyone who hasn't seen the film is reading). Interesting and thought provoking. I think there might only be an end to racism if aliens come or something, then maybe we'd all work together against the non-humans.
