kilts at a wedding

So my friend is getting married and her husband to be has some irish blood somwhere in his family but he is saying he wants to wear a kilt.Oh dear this does not fit into my friends visions for her wedding so i am just wondering what other people think or have done.let me know is this really acceptable?

I've been to a few weddings where the groom or others wore kilts, if they were Scottish or Irish. It definitely is not uncommon in that part of the world. The guys I've seen in kilts wear a tuxedo type jacket and tie, so they look pretty normal from the waist up. Maybe people could just take pictures of the top half of him?
