I'm terrified.. I'm not good at driving. I've driven and I am just not good at focusing and making the split second decisions. I've studied, and practiced, and watched other drivers, and learned the rules but I STILL just. don't. get. it.
What can I do ??

I don't drive. I don't have a license. It ticks my boyfriend off..he wants me to drive. I told him before we have children I will learn. Otherwise I just don't have a reason to. It's costly and I'm scared of getting in an accident. I tried when I was younger and did okay..but I never got into it enough to keep going.

EXACTLY how I feel.
One of my "conditions" that I know I will be ready to have children is when I can drive and be OK with it. The other "conditions" I have are of course having a stable job and salary, and being able to cook more things, and be older than 21 so I could have had time to party for a while first..
I feel like that right now - I have no reason, no motiviation to drive.
Pisses my boyfriend off too ! Especially since he CAN'T get a license and he wants one soo bad!

A lot of people live in this world without driving, and yes even in the US! lol If you really are uncomfortable with it I think you shouldn't do it. You can either have others drive, use other means (bicycle, bus, cab, walking, etc.) or decide to take lessons from a professional.
I think you need to be comfortable with either choice.

Thanks.. for now I am sort of OK with taking the bus but it does sometimes get frustrated.. and I feel alot of pressure from my fiance to drive because he can't get a license right now.. I don't know if to try again or just to give up.. well.. thanks for the advice!

i felt the same way as you before. and when i was learning how to drive, my boyfriend won't even let me drive my own car. it was a sports car and he was pretty much scared of me ruining my own car that he won't even let me drive it without him. but then my boyfriend had this old ugly family car that his family wasn't using anymore. and so he made me drive it instead of my own car. he just made me drive that car going to work. i was so embarrassed to my friends for seeing me driving a hideous car. but it paid off. after a couple of months i really got use to driving without anyone with me.
i don't drive that ugly car anymore but that car really helped me a lot.
so keep practicing. you will get the hang of it!

just think that you need it someday and it will be a useful talent to have, imagine yourself...what if you were in a situation where in you are the only one your beloved ones was counting on to escape a terrible danger with the use of the car nearby? then your instinct will get along with your effort to learn how to drive.

im 21 and im desperate to learn to drive! iv had 13 hours so far with my driving instructor and the last one was in november. i havent been able to afford anymore until nxt month as i start a new job next week and im really looking 4ward to driving agen! i did have my confidence knocked a few weeks ago wen my cousin let me drive his car inthe middle of the night in a car park and sum quiet roads around us. i reversed his car in2 a bank and damaged his exhaust! lol but im still determined and like you im not good at making quick decisions so thats my worst fear is making the wrong choice! but stick at it. its always gonna b handy to have a license whether you want to b driving now or not and the sooner you do drive the sooner your confidence will increase. xx
