chevelle's music vs tool

Chevelle's singer sound NOTHING like Maynard from TOOL...this is an odd comparison...Maynard does have a better rep. on carrying a powerful voice, where-as the Chevelle singer is sort of avergae and breaks quit a bit....Tool wins

well as for me i like them both, and though they sound a bit little there is still a big difference. the first time i heard cheveele i know i will really love them but i didn't mistake them for tool. tool is considered to be a legend, they already made there mark in the music scene. maybe tool just made a little influence with chevvele so other people mistake teh two bands. i salute bothe of that bands! there are so good and so bad you will adore them!

I love both bands as they are awesome, but if I had to chose one i'd probably go with Chevelle, they seem to rock it a little harder, but I really enjoy Tool's new music that came out this past spring and summer. Great bands!

chevelle says they're influenced by tool, so naturally the sound has some similarities. there are a lot of bands that mimic tool, but none of them extend past the sound of maynards vocls. none of the bands that list tool as an influence actually try to delve as lyrically deep as maynards topics do. tool is a different genre of music than chevelle.

I don't think they should be so much confused as you claim, Tool are by far most superior to Chevelle. Just look at the structure of Tool songs, you'll never see Chevelle producing anything alike...they're just too simple and blend to even be compared to Tool.

I don't know how you can mistake Chevelle for Tool. I don't think they sound anything alike, and Maynard doesn't sound anything like Chevelle's lead singer. In fact their is only one band that I know of that has a singer who remotely sounds like Maynard and that's Earshot. They are an ok band, not the best and not the worst. On Chevelle VS. Tool I would go with Tool. Tool is one of the best melodramatic rock bands that ever got on the stage. :-P

I'm definitely going to have to go with Tool on this one. While Chevelle has definitely made a name for themselves since I first saw them live (before they were signed), I fail to see a) how someone could confuse the two since the frontmen sound nothing alike, and b)after hearing the lyrics how someone could honestly say that Chevelle is as hard hitting as Tool.

Chevelle is a great band too though i don't really think theys sound kinda the same.But I think Earshot does sound like a little of Tool.Well not everytime though in some specific song they do sound a like.

Chevelle and Tool I likes both of them, i can't tell whos better, but i think if pete just do the sing and not playing guitar (while sings) he can do more experiment with his voice maybe his sing can be more similar to Maynard

I agree with you man... In a few songs Dat´s voice can be confused with Maynard´s voice (NOT ALL SONGS but few). Also, some of Chevelle´s songs sounds like Tool... In my opinion, Tool is way much better band than Chevelle but I do like Chevelle as well... so no regrets 4 me... Regards, JRA

I know this is somewhat an old discussion, but I agree with most of the people here, Tool doesnt sound like Chevelle that much at all.

I have to go with tool, I mean, they made alot of the bands these days.
