Fun Vacation on the cheap

Well I am not a big fun of expensive hotels restaurants and monument visiting, I prefer to meet people, learn their culture enjoy their food. So my general plan on my vacation is Enjoy the trip, sit next to someone who might be willing to have a conversation with you and if they don't, just punch them in the nose, that should draw some attention on you In the city I would find a hostel near the center of the town (or at least near the places you want to hang out). Get your breakfast, lunch and diner there so you can meet people. You might find people to explore the city that way. While in the city walk to your destinations and enjoy the surroundings, take a picture or two so you can feel more like tourist (you can also publish them here for us to see) you might discover places that the tourist guides want show you. If you are going too far to walk just hitch hike, who knows you might be on the news the next day. well what is your thoughts on Holidays on a budget ?
