Why there are so many religions?

All religions teach us to do good things and believe in one god. Basic ideology of all religions is almost same. Even people are killing people in the name of religion while no religion permits us to kill human without any justifiable reason.

Where "capable" people realised and tasted the power of organised religion, they started to fight for control in that religious organisation. When they cannot control that existing organisation, they form new ones, or similar faith deviant faith.
So, there are many religions. Lest the new ones cannot have the same effective power and influence, they dont deviate too much from the original. So, actually, there are "not that many" religions.
