I go to the new discussions tab and respond to anything that looks interesting.
I have noticed that some members start lots of discussions, but rarely respond to other people's discussions. This whole thing works only if people do both.

I get on here and go to the discussions that have no answers yet. I have no idea why I do. Its just my "thang" I guess.
