I have a Dell and I find that I have nothing but problems with it? I am thinking of getting something new. Any suggestions?

My sister has two new Dells and they are awesome.
I have two Gateways and love them. I researched to find what I would want in a computer and what I might want say in five years and decided since I had to money at the time to buy what I wanted and even though new technology comes out every day it seems, I am happy with my computer. I had an argument with one salesman in one store because I would not settle for less. So I went back to another store and bought the computer I wanted and I have been very happy with it.
Four people I know bought hp's and all three went down so many times and were not able to be fixed. This could have been due to a bad batch of computers as they were all bought around the same time of the year. However, I have decide no hp's for me.
What I would suggest, is decide what it is you will be using your computer for, how much memory you think you will need now and in the future. I would go with a dual core processor. I love having no lag when using more then two programs! If you go with less memory to save on money make sure it is expandable so you can upgrade to more memory in the future if you so desire. I went with 250 gb and have never got below 200 gb, but I know the memory is there if I need it.
Decide a price range and then research the different computers online. I like going to circuit city and other sites to see what reviews others have give the computers or items I am thinking of purchasing.
I probably do more research on a computer then I do a car. LOL!!
Good luck with your purchase and let us know what you bought.

If this is a computer you will be using at home I would get a desktop. Laptops are great but I have read where many people hook up external keyboard and monitor so it is easier on them physcially. If you want a laptop I would suggest keeping your monitor and keyboard and mouse to hook up to the laptop, if they will work on the laptop that is.
I have both a laptop and desktop and use my laptop only if someone else is on my desktop or when traveling.

I hate Dell. All three of the ones I had were problematic. I would never buy another one. Maybe you could build yourself a computer? You get what you want that way, and I have a 10 yr old computer I built still running and being used daily by my parents.

I am also an adept of do it your self. Only my first computer was pre-assembled, since then I have built my own computers. Bought the pieces all the magazines and websites where saying where good, assembled them, installed a Operating System and there you have it. A quality computer built by you. The thing is that you can buy the pieces you want, from where you want, nobody is bothering you or forcing you to buy this and that. At the end of the day, when something doesn't work you'll know where to look because you built it. Have a go on this one.

I have HP & trust me nothing better then this one. I did a long research before buying this notebook. By the way even Toshiba is nice but a bit expensive. So jus go for anyone of these two. Have fun.

yeah.I heard alot of complains with dell. What kind of problems do you have with it?Hardware or software? If you have software problems with it it's easy to fix but if it's hardware, try sending back to dell or if you don't have the warranty already, visit your local computer hardware store.

I have a dell too. I just got it last year for my birthday, it is a laptop. But before this, I had a reg. large computer but that was dell too. I have never tried another brand, I have had such good luck with this one. I always say, if there is nothing wrong, why change?
