I need to reformat. I have thousands of songs on my pc and I don't want to loss them. I found Xdive and was wondering if anyone ever used it. I guess for a fee you can upload 50G of info. Sounds great, but is it safe?

First of all. I partitioned my hard drive in this way: c: 10 GB only windows files, drivers and some programs.
D: 30 GB music and movies
E: 40 GB games and applications
This way when you need to format your drive you don't have to worry about you losing your data.
If you do not have a special partition dedicated to Windows than i suggest copying the files on to dvd-s or on another hard drive. A friend can help, or if you are part of a network you can upload your data on another computer. I don't recommend using a program because you don't know for sure that it will work or after the format can get your data safely back.
Using an internet storage is not an option in my opinion for mass storage 1'st of all because of the time it takes to upload. This depends on your connection and the upload speed of the server, the kind of server, depends on how crowded that server is at the time you upload your things, plus you can have trouble downloading them, finding them or if the server you stashed you data on can crash or can be attacked thus reducing the chances you have in recovering your data. I strongly recommend not to use external sources to stash your important data. Use another hard drive or mass storage disks, tapes and other things like that.
Hope it helped.

I don't know if Xdrive is safe but, in my opinion, 50 GB of info is a lot, and the upload can take hours or days if you don't have a very high upload speed.
If one of your friends has a notebook, you can connect your computer to your friend's notebook using a network cable, and copy all the info temporarily on his computer.
Another alternative is to copy all the info on DVDs, you should need 7 DVD of 8 GB each, or 11 DVD of 4.7 GB each. The backup on DVD requires time but probably less than uploading 50 GB to an online storage.
